Universal Bodies Universal Souls

The soul strives to connect. to look into another human's eyes and feel empathy, to hold someone’s hand and find comfort.

The Dance Film, Universal Bodies Universal Souls explores the shared physical and emotional experiences of human beings. Regardless of language or cultural background, all individuals can connect to emotions such as joy, sadness, or anger. The body serves as the channel through which we communicate with the world, expressing both physical and emotional manifestations.

By extending Vazanna's choreography of Human, Common Territory from stage performance to the medium of film, the project explores new possibilities and pushes the boundaries of traditional dance practices/making.

The dance film is a collaboration between choreographer Sharon Vazanna and director Maurice Lai, together with the School of Dance and School of Film & TV at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
